M&M’s® MINIs® Madness Review

This game by Nintendo takes the Gameboy playing to new heights and how sweet it is! Those loveable M&M characters are on a mission to gain control back of their candy factory that has been ruthlessly taken over. From who you ask? Why, from those pesky M&M Minis! Will the minis take over from our four candy loving friends? Will the tradition of those sweet chocolate disks go on?

Well..... As the story open we find out that group of M&M Minis gone bad have taken over the M&Ms candy factory and will not give it up. It is up to our four candy coated friends to take it back and save the candy making business we all know and love. Each of the M&Ms has their own super power (kind of like candy XMEN, although that is my own opinion). You have Red who can spin a tornado at the drop of a hat. Yellow can flip as high as a Mary Lou Retton ever could. Blue is a liquid of a candy and can squeeze into any space any size. Then there is Green, who is my favorite here. She is one lovely candy but beware as those sweet kisses she so lovingly blows your way can rival the Hulk any day of the week. And believe me, no brick wall is too thick to withstand those kisses.. Each level of this game contains circuit breakers that you will have to reset to finish the level on. Your goal is to reset all the circuit breakers and restore the factory to the M&Ms.

One of the things I really like about this game is that in the snap of a key you can change the M&M you are using into one of the others, depending on what you want to accomplish. This really gets the player into the game as it builds on a strategy you create. No restarting of the game to use this function so the game is never interrupted. Power-ups in this game are Lightening Bolts and heart. Like all games these are important to the success of finishing so catch as many as you can. You will successfully complete the game after finishing all four worlds. I have to tell you hear that you are just going to love the ending to this one! The game throughout will fill you with hours of gameplay. The special powers of M&M really adds to this game and will have you playing over and over, which to me is what really spells the success of any game.

Gameplay: 9.0
The gameplay is great for ages 8 and above. It is very self-pacing and gives you time to change strategy in the middle of a game instead of having to start over from the beginning. Challenging enough to keep the game going yet slow enough to take time and enjoy it all.

Graphics: 8.5
Some great graphics here. The M&Ms look even better in this game than the television commercials. The special powers of the M&Ms done with flair and the bright colors of the characters and game itself makes this one of the best Gameboy games on the market.

Sound: 8.5
All dialogue is crystal clear really lends to this game!

Difficulty: 9.0
What I like most about the difficulty of this game is that it really geared toward all ages 8 and above and can be as challenging as you want it to be. Due to being able to change characters in mid-stream you can try different options to solving the game and that is a real bonus.

Concept: 8.5
The concept may not be unique but the way the game is played is. Taking characters that just about everybody on the globe recognizes gives a different twist on the game itself. Changing characters during the game helps this concept also differ in similar ones.

Multiplayer:
This game can be multiplayer and really adds new dimensions when played this way.

Overall: 9.5
