Varooooommmm!  Rev that engine to max rpms...pop that clutch and hit the streets for some of the fastest paced action ever seen on a Game Boy Color System!

Road Rash, an Electronic Arts release, brings you the ultimate in high-speed motorcycle combat racing!  You'll have your pick of  some of the hottest rashers you've ever seen.

There are five Ultra Light Bikes:  Shuriken 400, Panda 500, Shuriken TT 250, Panda 900 and Banzai 7.11.  These basic rashers are ideal for beginners because they are easy on the wallet and easy on the road!

The Super Bikes cost more money but that buys you more horsepower, better top speeds and greater acceleration abilities.  The five bikes in this category include Panda 600, Banzai 600, Banzai 750, Shuriken 1000 and Diablo 1000.

For the most powerful bikes on the road...the Nitro Class Bikes...expect to lay down a lot of the green stuff because these bikes are the ultimate choice for power and speed.  The Nitro Class models include Banzai 600 N, Banzai 760 N, Shuriken 1000 N, Banzai 7.11N and Diablo 1000 N.

The most basic rule to remember in this type of combat racing is to take out your opponents before they can take you out!  The competition may be thrilling but it can also be deadly!

In Single Player mode, you'll pit your skills again fifteen of the meanest bad boys on the road as you fight your way to the finish line.  The better you race, the higher your credits will be!  It's not going to be easy though!  You will have to muscle your way through weapon-wielding punks, the fuzz and traffic hazards!

There are five difficulty levels in Single Player mode.  Each level consists of five tracks.  To qualify on each track, you must place as one of the top three finishers.  Finish all the tracks and advance to the next level!  Each level will increase in difficulty as you face longer tracks and more challenging competition.

It is important to keep enough money in your account to cover the costs of repairs.  During each race, any crashes or collisions with road hazards or other vehicles result in damage to your bike.  Exceed the amount of damage your bike can take and it will explode and end that race.  Then you will have to spend cold cash to fix your bike.

You also want to keep a sharp eye out for the police because they will be patrolling the streets and watching for you to make a mistake.  If you get busted, your race is automatically over and you will have to pay a fine.

You'll start the race without any weapons but your opponents will be armed and dangerous.  You will have to swipe the weapons they have and use them against those bad boys!

Single Player mode also allows you to save your progress so you can continue where you last played.  You'll find options to do this on the Password Screen.

You can also race head-to-head with a buddy or family member by using a Game Link cable to hook two systems together.  To play with 2 players, connect the two systems and select LINK VS RACING.  In this mode each player will select a bike to use, a weapon , a track to race on and a play level.

Well, that's the skinny on what you have to do.  Now it is time for action!  It's time to Light some Fires and Shred some Tires...with Road Rash!  See ya on the streets!

This game will put your through your paces!  Action is fast paced and timing is critical!  Although the controls are easy to master, knowing exactly when to use different maneuvers will test your skill.

Overall:  7.5.
The female members of my extended family are not at all fond of Road Rash; but the male members, adults and kids alike, found the game quite enjoyable.  I think perhaps it is a male thing...all that head bashing and need for speed!
